With an ever growing pile of patterns I’m itching to start and an even bigger cupboard full of WIP I have a dilemma over which of the two I should dedicate my 2018 time. The non-sensible thing would be to crack on with all those patterns waiting but my sensible, thrifty and logical thinking tells me I should tackle the WIP.

Well here goes…..

My plan of action from January 1st will be to work on one WIP a month. I’m going to be realistic in knowing that I am not going to finish all of them but I shall hopefully make a dent in how much needs doing.

Just a few of the hiding places of these WIP!

I have listed my WIP and to try and keep me interested in this task I have a ‘hat’ of numbers and on the 1st of each month I shall draw a number and work on the corresponding item.

If the WIP gets finished then a bonus but if not, there will be no stressing; at least I’ve made in-roads and that drawn WIP number will get put back in the ‘hat’ therefore may be pulled out again through the year.

However, should I wish to carry on with the project the following month I can but I must also draw a new WIP to work on.  Whether I donate an hour to the project or the whole month, I just want to work on them.

I shall not be starting anything new (what have I just said), unless, it’s for a present or for display in the haberdashery where I work and the aim will be to make something small.

I can do this, you can too, join in with me and tackle a piece each month from your own WIP.

Hi Sharon, what number did you pick for January ? Dying to know lol. My 2018 NYR is to ‘Finish what I’ve Started’, and for me – although the list is long – I may only finish two or three projects this year as they are all quite big projects.

I love this idea. At first I thought I only have two quilting ufo’s but then remembered my sewing, dressmaking, recycling and knitting projects still to be finished. I’ve got loads – going to write my list today. Thanks for the idea xx
