one of the scariest things I have ever done, so worried I would have given wrong names and addresses to people and someone would end up with two and one without!!

  • To be asked to be a swap mumma and head up a team on the 2019 mini swap came as a real surprise. I wasn’t sure if I would actually get a team until the last minute, as until the final count of those signed up would b…

Thank you Maggie, you will have to supply me with all the dates and info for your show, I can the put in my diary and advise the ladies who attend my groups here and in the shop. My other half enjoys Corfe, he buys the paper, walks into the garden and find a table and chair, I get him a drink and a cake and he’s happy while I wander the show!!…[Read more]

Teresa I was privileged to watch one of Joyce’s quilts get finished as one of the ladies goes to a group I attend, it was lovely watching it get finished and to know that someone had bought it prior to finishing and the show. The Chooks definitely made you smile when you turned the corner! I like to get the dates of these shows in my diary asap…[Read more]

  • How lucky were we this last Bank Holiday with not one but two local quilt shows within a half hour drive? A bonus that one was on Friday and Saturday and the other on Sunday and Monday! It couldn’t have been p…

    • Sharon ….Fabulous report of 2 shows I wish I could have gone to, had they been nearer or if I had transport. Quantock Quilters are amazing for their first show, they should be immensely proud. How lovely that other group quilters at Corfe finished off Joyce Anning’s lovely work in her memory after her death to be a focal point of the show & fundraising & as for those Chooks, I would have rehomed all of them!!

    • They were both excellent shows, I agree. A very good showing and variety at both. Next year you will have Apple County instead, as we alternate with Corfe. Let’s hope Quantock make it a regular thing-Gill Griffiths is a UKQU member!

Fabulous. I love our annual trips to Paignton with my quilting group and this year I have a lovely trip up to Derbyshire to look forward to in July. Like many, with work and tutoring I don’t get much time to stitch myself, so a few days away just for stitching is a real treat.

Thank you Teresa, you would be made most welcome, we do this as often as we can and in the summer we can sit outside with our work and eat our lunch too. Its a great day spent with some lovely ladies.

  • The men have the Masons and the Masonic Hall; we have quilting and Southwell House.

Stitch & Brue are now going into their seventh year, hopefully there will be no 7 year hitch with this relationship; Brue a play…

    • I wish I lived nearer, looks like a great way to spend a Sunday!

  • There are 3 of us in the shop (at separate times never together) and have a little book on the go ‘customerisms’ its a great read when you get time to catch up on it. Also the comments each makes to the others encounters add to the smile factor. Thanks Lyn for your comment.

  • Another that bugs is the pulling out the tape measure and pushing the button for it to fly back in! All these things make the day interesting Teresa.

  • Working in a haberdashery we get asked/told and hear many things eyes roll or you titter silently to yourself. These customers all make the job worthwhile even when you are left dumbfounded, here are just a few of…

    • I totally love this! Many years ago (1981), I was the manager of a fabric shop. Back then it was mainly Dressmaking not Quilting, but I really resonate with the reels of thread! The hours I spent on my hands and knees sorting out the colours & putting them back again into the Gutterman stand, because some precious poppet angel thought pinging them out ‘a la catapult’ was fun!

    • Just lovely. My daughter once worked in a bookshop too, so I recognise ‘those’ customers.

    • Fantastic idea – I love that there was moaning over having 10 months to complete the challenge! Might have to try this with our quilting group…

Just make one for yourself and leave off the lovey dovey words!

  • A quick little make, ideal to take on your travels or to sit and complete in between a bigger project.

A few hours and you will have a little stitchery to give to that someone special.

    Whether you hang it from…

  • A lovely tale and great work for reminders of your childhood.

Thanks Sue, since making one a few years ago I’ve never used my foot without it. If you buy the nonslip from a charity shop you usually get a pack of two, one of these when cut will make 9 !! I did this one during a group and was able to give them all a piece of the nonslip to go home and make their own. A nice quick, cheap make. x
