Where have the summer holidays gone?

As I work in a school, I am as excited as the children when the schools break up for summer holidays. As usual it was very hectic through July and my son has left primary school to head off to secondary.

As I knew I wanted to get lots of sewing done durning the holidays I made a list, as the holidays draw to a close my list is still huge! I have made items which weren’t on the list of course! I have caught up with block of the months panels and sent off a charity quilt which a lovely lady who looks after dogs with spine problems. This was the priority job of the holidays.

My son has been requesting items, I love that he admires what I make but if he asks for something he expects it soon! At FOQ I attended a workshop to make snappy purses, they are brilliant. He wanted a small snappy purse for his guitar picks, he rummaged through fabric and found flame fabric then went off to young technicians for the day. Luckily for him these are quite quick to put together, he was thrilled I managed to find an hour to make him one.

These purses use and old metal measuring tape, you need to put them so the backs are facing each other in the slots to give the snappy closing effect.

I’m thinking they will make great glasses classes for Christmas gifts. Guess I best add those to the list!

Last Christmas a great crafty friend of mine brought me a beautiful felt dragon kit from House of Zandra, if I’m honest I’ve been scared to start it as I’ve never made a toy or used felt in my crafting journey. At FOQ I was admiring the other animals they have especially the cat and got chatting to the vendor, such a lovely lady how told me to take it slow, cut it, then do one piece at a time. I’ve cut it out, I will keep you informed as to how it goes! My son has requested an orange and grey dragon!
