When I was about 14 or 15, I embellished clothes. It started with camouflaging little holes, making them into flowers… No idea about Boro, back then…
I never really stopped embellishing, but when I started quilting hell broke loose.
I went to a class from Marijke van Welzen, and started embellishing for real.. Then came a three-day workshop with her, and combined with art quilt classes it went crazy.
Then, on a textile-fair, there was this exhibition, AND a workshop, in Boro. That hit me. I went to the workshop and was hooked. Here’s the result:

Isn’t that cute. It hits your creative hormones: you can use everything from the jeans!
A couple of old jeans later, I went to the Patchwork shop with Carol Cox in Utrecht, to talk about teaching. I did not even remotely think about the little bag… but she saw my website, where a workshop was announced…
Now, there were already two bagmaking workshops, so sweet Mrs. Owner asked me would I teach a class Boro, and make a shawl! I was enthusiastic right away.
And now I am making the example at home. We took Moda Grunge in a dark blue, three colors to make patches, and some beautiful old linens to enhance everything.
I worked in the sun…

I started with big patches:

I just LOVE the way the grunges mix together with the yarn…

And do you see that linen???
When I am ready, it will be seen in the shop, so it can make people want to do the workshop…

If you start now, you can make some beautiful x-mas presents for dear friends!
But beware…
It sure IS addictive!
Love, Hilda
