Hi All,

I truly cannot believe time has passed so quickly for me this year!  So much time consuming stuff has been going, so heres the latest Mystery Reveal……. and the introduction to the next Mystery Quilt BOM due out in September.

The ‘Sunflowers Mystery BOM’ which has been an amazing mystery!  So many people taking part from all over the UK & Ireland, its been a real honor to watch them grow month by month.  A little help here and there with technique and a few drops of encouragement to the less confident, I can’t wait to see all the finished quilts!

Sunflowers was inspired by my favorite flower, sunny days (a touch of travel maybe) and my favorite colour.  They are the embodiment of happiness to me, seems I’m not the only one to feel this way! 🙂

The BOM ran over 6 months, so not too long that people could get impatient or loose impetus with the project, I’m not in the habit of encouraging UFO’s if I can help it!   (unfinished objects)   It’s a design that could be very abstract due to the fabric and colour placement, also the mix of techniques between Applique & embroidery, all down to individual expression.  There’s nothing I love more than seeing a few design developments along the way.

My designs have a habit of looking complicated, but they’re not really.   Yes they are designed to challenge a bit or to encourage learning.  When you’re tackling things just a bit at a time you’d be amazed how skilled you all are!!  If you looked at the completed quilt before starting I’d forgive you for being put off, but like any quilt, just look at one little bit or block at a time and its all very achievable……beginners regularly take part, with my support and encouragement along the way.

The original sample above, has been mostly longarmed by Sarah Wickett, (another member of UKQU) from https://www.facebook.com/amblesidequilting/   with me finishing off the borders and a few touches into the main body of the quilt by hand, the design continuing out into the borders.

‘Fibonacci Mystery BOM’ is next!!

Due to start in September.  It’ll run over 6 months, its got a wonderful spring feel to it and isn’t as complicated as the name suggests!!

Mostly traditional piecing with simple applique, that’s been a bit Abbie’d!  Different again from the previous mystery’s, but still inspired by the garden.  It’ll be a good sized lap quilt or will sit happily atop a bed, or more so if you choose to add borders.

Look out for ‘sign up’, available from August here in my shop on the UKQU website:  https://ukqu.co.uk/shops/abbieanne-store/
