Quilting for charitable causes has become quite a thing these days .. the local sewing group I go to, Our Quilty Pleasures, has supported a number of charities over the years and we have recently been fortunate to receive a substantial amount of money to support our future efforts.  Generally, we sew for local causes and have just donated a large log cabin quilt that everyone in the group contributed a block to and one of our members quilted.  We love working this way together, and the local Hospice, who we gave the quilt to, plan to raffle it towards their funds

Seeing the quilt set up to display its loveliness set me thinking about the number of different groups out there – Q4CL, Linus, Helping Hands  Stitching and Sewing for Good Causes and lots of smaller groups all working together to benefit people.  Nothing warms my own heart than when I read about the happiness receiving a quilt brings to someone.

I have also seen much said about support for refugees coming to the UK with little or nothing to their name. So when our friends at the Craft Cotton Co. sent me the flier below what else could I do but share it with you all.  Video groups are very much of a thing these days .. and this one sounds like fun.  Crumb blocks are a great way to use up the inevitable scraps that we all have tucked into bags around our sewing areas aren’t they. It sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
