Maggie Attfield wrote a new post, SewEasy A3 Cutting Mat Review 6 years, 4 months ago
This A3 cutting mat was sent to me for reviewing. It has a pale grey background with imperial measures on one side and a black background with metric measurements on the other. It arrived beautifully packed in…

That’s a brilliant review Margaret.

Thank you!

If I needed a new mat – I would definately consider one of these. Your concise review is excellent, the way you used various and different fabrics really proved that the mat is worth buying. Thanks Margaret.

Thank You!

I should have added that there are several sizes!

Maggie Attfield wrote a new post, Selvedges, Scraps and Allsorts 6 years, 4 months ago
Two of my many failings are that I cannot resist a bargain, and I cannot waste anything. It used to be cardboard tubes, yogurt pots, bits of string: now it is fabric scraps, ends of thread, and selvedges. So, imagine…

Love the organic look to these. I tend to give my scraps away due to time constraints, maybe I should hang onto them!
-
Thank you, Jane. Definitely hang on to them…..you never know what you may use next year!

Love these quilts. Like the idea of all the different quilting patterns between.
-
Thank you Chris, so do I.

Lovely quilts Maggie and I like the tiny details such as making sure each block has a hint of a colour in, Loved reading your blog.

Thank you Ruth. I am still learning, but every little helps.

How many of these can you relate to .. go on, be honest!
The low bobbin warning beep (I think the record I have heard is 60 inches of no-thread seam)
That feeling that the bit you are sewing is thicker than it…

Corinne Curtis wrote a new post, Good enough to give? 6 years, 5 months ago
There is something very special about putting a lot of time and creativity into making a quilt and then passing the finished quilt on to its new owner. When we make for family or friends, we want out quilts to be the…

Corinne Curtis wrote a new post, “Reformatting” an unloved, unfinished project 6 years, 8 months ago
This quilt pattern first attracted me because of the large areas of applique mixed in with some traditional piecing. I was very enthusiastic when I started, and found the instructions for the separate elements…

These were left over from demonstrating Eccentric Log Cabins (not so much a Log Cabin, more a Pile of Sticks, see the image at the top for my Dusk quilt…) at Festival of Quilts in 2017.…

Helen Howes wrote a new post, Thirteen – A Nother Digression, About Quilting Your Improv Blocks 7 years, 3 months ago
Now, as I have spent more time quilting, and as I have learned how to do it better, I find I want to make less and less of a statement with it. It’s really important to quilt your quilt, as it’s not complete…

Now, I was asked to make a quilt from a pack of Oakshott Fabrics Starshott, which is a slightly odd, subtle coloured selection.. I wanted something simple, and improvised, of course, and trimmable, without…

Corinne Curtis wrote a new post, 10 minute make – reusable gift bags 7 years, 3 months ago
This is a fat quarter friendly way of quickly and easily making reusable gift bags, as an alternative to gift wrapping paper. I made some of these at Christmas to try them out and have no hesitation in asking for…

Thanks for the inspiration Corinne! I’ve made some reusable fabric gift bags this Christmas. I modified yours, by skipping the ‘threading through’ part and instead added a ribbon in one of the side seams to use for a simple knot & bow to close the bag. Happy Christmas xx

That is a great idea, Nina, and makes it an even easier make!

Loving something with its “warts and all” is loving it in spite of any obvious blemishes or scars. Sometimes you make or receive a quilt that isn’t quite perfect, or even a long way off perfect, but it can still…
