Otherwise entitled – We all turn into our mothers (and fathers).
This is likely to be a bit of a marmite post – it will probably provoke some extreme views. I don’t mean for this post to offend anyone, and I reali…

What an interesting Blog. Thank you. It has made me think about my family phrases. Ooh and my grandmother was a tailor and she taught me to sew. She used to make me dresses and if I wasn’t available for a ‘try on’ for the length of the belt – she would wind it round her ‘ample’ waist and if it fit she would say that will fit our Sooney (my childhood nickname). I was like a lathe and it would go round me about 4 times!!! Little did I know I would grow up to do the same for my granddaughter…. and I look more like my Nan than I like to think (haha), ‘ample’ waist an’ all……

Thank you Sue! More and more frequently I find myself saying and doing things that could be directly from my mum – and also from my dad. I love it that you are doing with your granddaughter what your grandmother did with you!

Jane – thank you for this blog – I too am feeling a bit unsure about this weekend, trying to get everything ready, and wondering what I’m going to bring along to it to work on. We will have a fantastic time – the retreat will be what we make it! Now I just have to make it through until Friday, and try to sort out the quilting on a quilt that I s…[Read more]

I must start this review with an apology to Groves for taking so long to write a review – I wanted to showcase the ribbons in just the right way, and the project I chose needed some time and thought. I was d…

I wholeheartedly agree with this Chris! As I often say (because my mum used to see it) – a blind man would be glad to see it! Also – better finished than perfect. I’ve got a couple of BOMs that I’m working on – including Gravity, and I will get Jack out if it is too far out, but slightly out (if it all goes together) is good enough for me!

I love our hobby. I love taking pieces of fabric, cutting them up, and sewing them together again. I enjoy combining colours and shapes, and creating original pieces of work. I find it very satisfying to sew in…

Ok – you have done it. After reading this, I MUST get the quilting done on the quilt for my daughter made out of her late dad’s rugby shirts. (it was meant to be her birthday present a year ago, and a Christmas present before that…..) Hoping it can be a Christmas present this year. Thank you. xx

13th August was International Left Handers Day, so I thought a bit of a blog about it would be good. As I have said before, I am left-handed. My mum learned to knit left handed in an attempt to teach me to knit – I w…

Thank you Sue – I remember my flute teacher saying ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ – and that may have a ring of truth about it, but what if I haven’t yet found the craft / job / activity that I can truly master? I’ll just have to try them to find out!

Oh how I wish…! I have a sewing room and a crafting room. My crafting room is more planned than the sewing room, but one of my stepsons came back to live with us last year, and I said he could use the crafting room for storage short term…obviously we have different ideas about what short term actually is. I have been trying to finish off WIPs…[Read more]
