It is a rather fast read with only 30,000 words and easy language. Notwithstanding this, i…

I finally decided what to make my mum for her 70th birthday. I ran out of time to get a big quilt done (and I’m still working on Xander’s from 2 years ago…) but I found this gorgeous Bernatex orchid panel on our…

Lovely gift Juliet and nice solution to a wonky panel.

Mum said she liked it. To be fair if I gave her a dead frog wearing a hat she’d still send me a thank you card of course… 😉

Juliet, I loved reading this, it really made me chuckle because I sometimes struggle to picture things in my head too.
Plus, I’m going to try your version of mitred corners, I think you might be onto something here!-
It was soooooo much easier to fake the mitre Ami, and it ends up exactly the same as if you’d done it the right way and ironed the seam allowance to one side anyway.

Great Wall hanging, and love your choice of weights during the blocking process

I am a big audiobook fan because I can stitch whilst I listen so please can you choose some books that are available in audio format. Love being introduced to books I haven’t come across before and then see other people’s comments.
-
I know for sure that at least one of the books scheduled until September is available on Audible, but not so sure about the others. Almost all of them are available as print and ebook; and many of the ebooks have the ‘speech’ function enabled. A bit ‘mechanical’ but perhaps a possibility. The publishers of quilting novels seem to be smaller outlets so not prioritising audio (guessing it is still expensive to make).

My mum always said, “ Where there’s a will, there’s a way!” And you certainly prove that, Juliet. I can’t wait to see your work on it, so I really hope a machine comes up soon.

So glad I’m not the only one using a Grace quilting frame for storage. I won’t show a photo just yet – I’ve got the wooden one which I set up 10 1/2 years ago in my sewing room, and it is heavy. One day I would love to have a dedicated long arm machine on it – I’ve used my Elna 7200 on it, but that means I would need to get the workshop machine out to use for piecing – doable but…! Anyway – well done, and one day maybe both of us will get round to quilting on our frames!

I’d love to learn to long arm quilt my tops too. You were wise to get this when you could even though you don’t have a machine for it yet. I’m sure you’ll have one soon and look forward to hearing all about the journey. Good luck!
