NO! What a seriously awful thing for anyone to say, Deb Quilter. That might be (just about) OK in the context of learning for a formal qualification where high standards are required, but is not at all appropriate for anyone quilting for enjoyment. I’m with Vendulka all the way on this issue.

Of course I don’t mine you advertising my free Developmental Hearts pattern, Sylvia! I put this pattern in the shop because I have had such a buzz helping with some of the projects you talk about, and because I heard someone say they thought squares might be easier than hearts (they aren’t – so please do download the pattern and give the hearts a go).

I really love the sewline glue pen for applique too. It holds the edges under well, but doesn’t cause any problems with your needle. I have tried using regular glue sticks, and while they are a lot cheaper, you can’t beat the sewline pen for its fine tip, better hold, and being a type of glue that just seems to work much better on fabric.
