UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoDipping out of May’s book as I am still reading the Last Runaway, but really want to read the Liz Trenow book. Reading the comments though I will certainly return to Sew Deadly in the future. How many of us get into the depths of the character. I am currently still contemplating a bonnet to read in

Denise Inkson wrote a new post, The Cheap Procrastinator – Open the window and come in for a chat! 8 years, 1 month ago
Mental health is becoming more into focus within the media. I felt impassioned to write this mini blog. For those that normally follow my blogs. They know that I look at ways to enjoy this wonderful world of textiles…

-
If I was new to the craft and read your post it would encourage me to ‘open the window’ to learn more. Really ‘opened my eyes’. Thanks you Denise
-
Glad it inspired you. Thank you.
-
-
Well said, Denise. Mental ill-health in its many forms rarely just disappears – but a kindred soul (especially one who shares our love of fabric!) can help a sufferer feel a little less alone.
-
I agree, that’s why I wanted to write this. As people are becoming more aware and hopefully will remain less hidden.
-
-
I love that you are rewarded and both rewarding with your craft I agree people are put off by the cost of crafting and unless they are enlightened by others keep up the good work. Jan

Thank you. It has been a life saver for me at times. This was the reason I wanted to share with others and write this blog.

Margery, I live in Spain. I would love to make and donate quilts, but can’t find any info of a Spanish ‘Linus’ type project. Do you know if there is a sister group to you here? Thanks in advance Sue x
-
Hi Sue
I’ve not heard of anything in Spain sorry. xx
-
-
I make for Linus down here in Swindon and they go off to the Bath and Wells coordinator. Most of the time I scale down quilts I have seen when I don’t need another full size quilt for personal use…Sometimes there are “because I can” quilts and I’m also creative with my scraps and selvedges. The poem is lovely.
-
Sewing for Linus is very rewarding and every co ordinator appreciates the quilts made by our volunteers

Sorry for your loss. What a wonderful quilt full of memories and a stunning memorial for Connie.

Sniff..beautifully put, we’ve all been there
-
What a beautiful Memorium to your Mum.
-
I’m sure your mum would be proud to know you had named your quilt in her honour, and know that love is In every stitch. A fitting tribute indeed xx
-
Very well written Carol, you are so brave and have hidden strength as I don’t think I could of written it so soon after my mum passing. So full of memories for you and your loving family and yes Corrie will be so proud of you and sure she is smiling at you. Big hugs to a good friend that P&Q brought together x
-
What a beautiful blog post, Carol. I’m sorry for your loss too. Very similar thing happened to me with my Mum so I relate to your experience. It’s a beautiful quilt and a lovely name.
-
Sorry to hear of your loss Carol, we lost Mum 2 weeks ago, and the echos of your post are here too. Your quilt is lovely, and like you, will always be your mums legacy. As for normal service next time, this is normal, we all go through it and you have been wonderfully eloquent in the way you have expressed your feelings xxx

I missed this when it came out, as I was in similar circumstances. But this is the loveliest tribute there could be. A wonderful quilt: a wonderful mum.

Hi Carol., your BOM is just what I was looking for! My mother died in November 2020 during the lockdown so things were especially difficult, made worse that she lives in Cornwall and I’m 260 miles away!
Mum loved her flower garden so I shall be quilting along in her memory.
I note that the link to the fabrics is broken ( its showing the 404 page not available) however I feel sure I will have enough in my stash to do the quilt justice.-
Hi Avril, sorry I have just seen this message. I suppose better late than never and before you finish the quilt.
