Recently I was lucky enough to be selected to review a fat quarter pack from the Craft Cotton Co, the Snazzy Grey range.

Snazzy Grey range

I always get excited when opening a package and not knowing what is inside, I was very happy when I pulled the fabrics out of the envelope to find the colours were lovely muted shades of pink, grey, cream, blue and gold and the fabrics had a fairly small all over print with slightly larger circles. The prints were non directional – result!!!

I opened them up and ironed the fabrics, I had to use steam to get the fold lines out, but the fabric ironed well.

Now, what should I make…?

I decided on a tote style bag. I selected 4 fat quarters and picked the one that would be my main outside fabric and cut some batting the same size and I quilted the two together using a diamond pattern, the fabric was lovely to quilt with no slippage or fraying. Next, I picked my lining and ironed some stabiliser onto it. I cut some strips of batting and lay them onto the fabric for the handles and made these up.

I put the bag together, the fabric was lovely to work with, it was soft, and the colours are so subtle, and they coordinated so well with each other. Once made up the bag is really light and will be very comfortable to use. The handles are long enough to go over the shoulder but equally the bag will look good worn on the arm.

I look forward to this fabric hitting the shops so that I can buy some for other projects.
