I love the stained glass pieces – and looking at your blog has given me ideas as for the layout of photos on mine! It also reminds me that I really need to get on and finish a few more things; I feel a bit like Flynn Carson (in The Librarian films and series) – loads of PHDs – so much time, so little to do – no wait, strike that – reverse it! (Film reference there – but which film?!)

After using cheap starch I also have tried Best Press. I love it and although more pricey that supermarket starch it does last along time

A positive result. One of those things you see and hear about but reluctant to buy in case of wasting money. You’ve put my mind at rest and shall buy in future. Great review and write up.

I love Best Press, I use it all the time. I especially love the rose scented one, but it does leave a scent in the fabrics so I also have the unscented one to use when making things for my husband or son as they may not appreciate the smell of roses 😉

Is it readily available? I haven’t seen it in any shops.

Really important, particularly in a class. That’s why I have one which springs closed automatically…..

That is definitely something I impress on my newbie quilting learners – there is far more likelihood of you cutting yourself with a swipe of a cutter being waved around in the air than of cutting yourself when the cutter is on the fabric – my instructions are always to close the cutter before (or just as you are) lifting it off the fabric, and only open it just as you put it down onto the fabric. If you can’t close your cutter easily, then invest in one that you can, as it is so important to be able to close it easily.
