I’m ruthquilts on Instagram. I have to say that I don’t like or use it very much as I’m a desktop PC girl at heart.

Found you Ruth! n Whilst it is a mobile phone app you can look at feeds and comment whilst on the desktop – not sure if you knew that? But you can’t add photos from the desktop.

I’m corinnecurtis12. I’m an erratic IG’er but like the way I can IG with photos straight from my phone, and share the post directly onto my facebook page. I don’t use mobile data, so my IG posts when I am out and about just sit in my phone until I get to a wifi connections. Next step is to join an instagram QAL I think.

Hi Corinne – my use of IG directly increased when I got a package that had date included. I know of one QAL just about to start #thecommunitysampler run by Sharon Holland and Maureen Cracknell. Intro post was last week and it’s all free!

I’ve used Instagram for some time but not aware there was and IG feed for UKQU but will go over and follow. I’ve used my feed for various things not just quilting, and sometimes link posts to Facebook.
Still getting used to UKQU website and remembering to visit this from time to time.-
Found you! The UKQU feed is relatively new and just being promoted now and will hopefully become an additional community for the UKQU members.

I love the wee ducks, I never knew that such a wonderful project existed and I’m off now to have a further read.. unfortunately the blood transfusion service no longer visits the western isles as it became not viable with so many ferry cancellations so financially and loss of donated blood in delay getting it back to Inverness

Oh my!!!
What a wonderful blog, thank you so very much in blogging about this and bringing to my attention and hopefully to all the others who happen on it. I can assure you I shall be making so many aware of this LYD awareness campaign, an illness that we all dread. For those of us who on the side lines feel helpless in having to sit and watch as loved ones take on a frightening and painful journey, that us fortunate in having good health can only imagine, a little something to feel like we are doing ‘our bit’.
I cannot wait now until Monday to take patterns to all the ladies in my knitting group and spread the word on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to the quilting groups I hold and attend.
Believe me I shall even be telling my friends in the pub!
So very close to my heart.
LYD will (with considerable re-telling, knitting and sewing) be in abundance in these Somerset towns.
Off to spread the word.-

I am pleased to say that the foundation paper piecing (FPP) pattern for the UK Quilters United LOGO is now available to download for FREE in my shop. Two sizes are available, but do feel free to print at any scale and adjust seam allowances / sashing accordingly.

A really interesting read and you can’t beat a good flange .. I am rapidly being converted to the idea of a kit, apart from the fear of cutting it wrong! Abbie Searle’s Mystery Quilt will be dispatched soon so I am looking forward to that .. but cutting the fabric will be a big thing for me. What tips would you suggest to avoid anxiety of that, apart from a large glass of vodka?

The old measure twice! Take it slow, mark on your pattern as you have cut and cut as you go rather than cut it all out before sewing. Basically not what I did 😉 Cutting as you go forces you to slow down too so you are paying more attention.

With the 365 (not a kit btw, but enough pieces and very complex to make it feel like the chosen fabric is a somewhat scarce resource) I sometimes planned out the cutting into a chart, and ticked as I went, and had labelled paper plates on the floor around the walls of the room to put the various pieces on according to the chart ! Sounds a bit OTT ? Then I ‘challenge’ you to have a go at some of the more intricate 365 blocks ! !

Very comforting to know that I am not the only one to get things upside down, inside out, and back to front, some [most] days! Lol ! I reckon that your beautiful black and white butterfly quilt is going to look amazing once finished. How about some regular straight-line quilting to hold it all together, and then go back for some FMQ another time (in a few days/weeks/months) aaannnddd, meanwhile, your mini-flange-demo-quilt (and thank you for that too btw, brilliant) might be the perfect playground for practising your FMQ too – yay hey, win win x
