Gosh, the kits are great. I would only be able to buy on line so I am wary about the quality of the fabric. (They don’t sell hem here in Spain in the Fabric Shops near me). Wonder which ones people would recommend?

Hi Sue, Sewmotion is my baby, if you haven’t already guessed. The fabrics I include in the kits are top quality, mostly Makower these days to be honest. I will be adding more products to my shop on here very soon 🙂

What eversize you like really, My fabric was A4 size and I folded it over the sides and ends by about 1.5inches each…..to encose the wadding….say 8 x 5 finished. Hope this helps….

What a simple-genius-idea! I keep a thread jar (I also embroider) but the pesky things want to go anywhere but in: and it is always on the wring side because I need my pincushion, my scissors etc. I shall be doing this NOW!

What a fantastic idea instead of using cling film etc. A very cost effective way of using up scraps of material. I think these could be made and given as part of a present. Great write up with clear instructions.

These are fantastic! Thank for taking the time to write a tutorial. Do you need to overlock the raw edges of the fabric? Would they be washable?

No need to overlock as the wax holds everything in place, although I think next time I shall use my wavy edge cutter to alleviate the initial fraying from cutting to making. All advise I’ve seen on washing is a warm wash or wipe over with a damp cloth. You just need to ensure the water is not hot enough to melt the wax. Doing them stacked on top of each other was a great stumble on making, you just have to work fast to separate and get onto a flat surface but the great thing is once they harden put back in oven for a minute or two. Such a quick and easy make, let me know how you get on and thank you for your post here.

Hi Sharon, thank you for this. Would you say that a dessert spoon of pellets would be enough for one 12 1/2” square? If not, roughly how much would you recommend ?

Morning Anne, hard to judge, I really didn’t use many. A dessert spoon I think will be plenty, just have some extra fabric at the ready to cut up and use just in case you find it is too much. Would be interesting to hear how you get on with that amount. A tip from using ours, after using a fair amount both mine and his through the summer, they are now ready to have another coating, I think where they are used daily and wipe/dunked in water they are no longer at their best. It’s time now to freshen them up and get back to good condition. The other two that haven’t been used so much are still fine and do the job.

We do need to keep encouraging the next generation of quilt artists. They were so good.

It would be great if parents, aunts, uncles, or grandparents would give a gift of Young Quilter Membership to their children, relations or grandchildren. The cost is £5.00 for a year’s membership – they receive a goodie bag on joining together with regular newsletters and updates on regional activities as well as participation at regional YQ events.
