Clover Desk Needle Threader

Usually if something sounds to good to be true, it is and you’re left feeling a bit disappointed, BUT that is not the case with the Desk Needle Threader from Clover! It does exactly what it says on the tin and is so easy to use.

This standalone device takes all of the frustration out of threading hand sewing needles in just four easy steps and rests solidly on any table or flat surface near your work area, so it can even be used on the go.

Step 1: drop the needle into the needle slot (number 1)

Step 2: lay the thread across the thread slot to the left of the needle

Step 3: hold the thread and slowly push the button down (number 2)

Step 4: lift your needle out and pull the thread loop through

There’s a handy cutter (number 3) for cutting the thread to your desired length once threaded, so you don’t even have to carry a pair of scissors around with you – perfect for sewing while travelling!

The first time I used it I did have to push the button a couple of times to get it to line up, it helps if you face the eye of the needle towards the right hand side where the threader button (number 2) is, once I’d got this in my head it was super easy to use.

It’s not suitable for larger needles, the hole to put the needle in (number 1) is actually quite small but then I guess that’s the pint isn’t it, because you don’t necessarily need help threading needles with a large eye! Clover states that oval eye needles between 0.51 – 0.89mm are best, but I’ve been using a John James size 10 sharps and it’s working perfectly.

It’s small, compact and fits neatly in the palm of a hand so doesn’t take up much room on my desk or in my sewing bag which makes it handy to take to classes as well as for sofa sewing.

Available in three colours and from a variety of retailers with varying prices so it’s worth shopping around. Stockists and further technical specifications can be found here.

I’ve been using mine on all sorts of different projects, all of which can be found here you can also see all of my creative adventures on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest under That’s Sew Kerry.

Happy Quilting!
