Oh Carol, that was beautiful, your Mum would be so proud of your quilt xxxx
-
Sorry for your loss. What a wonderful quilt full of memories and a stunning memorial for Connie.
-
Sniff..beautifully put, we’ve all been there
-
What a beautiful Memorium to your Mum.
-
I’m sure your mum would be proud to know you had named your quilt in her honour, and know that love is In every stitch. A fitting tribute indeed xx
-
Very well written Carol, you are so brave and have hidden strength as I don’t think I could of written it so soon after my mum passing. So full of memories for you and your loving family and yes Corrie will be so proud of you and sure she is smiling at you. Big hugs to a good friend that P&Q brought together x
-
What a beautiful blog post, Carol. I’m sorry for your loss too. Very similar thing happened to me with my Mum so I relate to your experience. It’s a beautiful quilt and a lovely name.
-
Sorry to hear of your loss Carol, we lost Mum 2 weeks ago, and the echos of your post are here too. Your quilt is lovely, and like you, will always be your mums legacy. As for normal service next time, this is normal, we all go through it and you have been wonderfully eloquent in the way you have expressed your feelings xxx

I missed this when it came out, as I was in similar circumstances. But this is the loveliest tribute there could be. A wonderful quilt: a wonderful mum.

Hi Carol., your BOM is just what I was looking for! My mother died in November 2020 during the lockdown so things were especially difficult, made worse that she lives in Cornwall and I’m 260 miles away!
Mum loved her flower garden so I shall be quilting along in her memory.
I note that the link to the fabrics is broken ( its showing the 404 page not available) however I feel sure I will have enough in my stash to do the quilt justice.-
Hi Avril, sorry I have just seen this message. I suppose better late than never and before you finish the quilt.

Hi everyone, welcome back
By the time you read this the inaugural UK Handi Quilter Academy, which I was lucky enough to attend, will be over and everyone will be back home, I thought you might like to hear about…

-
Thank you for the insight Carol, very jealous, wish I could have been there
-
You would have really enjoyed it, Kelly and Kim were really good teachers.

Sounds amazing.

It was great fun, met lots of lovely people too.

It was wonderful to meet you at this event and so good to hear your take on the event. It is very different being on the other side, as it were, and I know I came away with itchy fingers just wanting to quilt all day long!!

Nice to meet you too Abigail, I really enjoyed being on the pupil side of the table for a change. It was a very relaxing weekend, great fun with lots of super samples at the end.

Love it Carol, we all need a challenge in life.
-
A Quilter never runs out of ideas, just the time to follow them through unfortunately.
-
Absolutely, and it’s nice to do a fun project occasionally.
-
-
-
What a great idea – I have so many ideas floating around in my head and noted down already, this one may have to wait until next year, but I can think of a few people who I’ll challenge to join me!
-
My reply has ended up further down the page somehow or other, Christine, I hope you find someone to join in the fun with you.
-
-
Wow! That’s such a great idea, and I love your hallhanging, those birds really have character.
-
Thanks Alison, they were fun to make, and it’s nice to do some decorative stitching occasionally.
-
-
Wow these are lovely and I really like the idea of a challenge. I think I might do this for a few of my friends although it will not be from any shows. It will have to be what we have on hand. Thank you for sharing.
-
Hi Denise, I’m sure you could adapt it quite easily to do with your friends, and using what you all have on hand could be a challenge in itself if you all have very different tastes. I’d love to see what you make if you get around to it.
-
-
Love this idea for a challenge however, I’m always worried that I am not creative enough. Perhaps this could be new UKQU alternative challenge to the Mini Quilt?
-
Something to think about Deborah.
