What a wonderful piece of work! I am completely humbled by this. I particularly like the detail you give us on the preparation-it is all too easy to stand in front of a detailed piece of work and say flippantly, “I don’t like it!,” with no thought about what you are really seeing. So, thank you.

And very nice too! I have 4 swanbacks and the original cushions-long past their date-which press stud under the seat. I really should follow your example…

A lovely, balanced, personal view which really encourages us to consider our quilts and to enter them!

Like you, I am largely self-taught in quilting. And, like you, I feel the urge to point out every flaw. But we are all learners, and so I am going to try to accept the joy of the recipient while holding back the criticisms as part of my desire for improvement and development !

Weddings are always emotional affairs, but that one certainly wins the prize. What lovely makes, too. A real labour if love. And to think I got fed up making 150m of bunting….

Exciting? My mum was so proud to be mentioned in the first book.

What a lovely, warm post. I too, felt the need to use clothes to remember my mum, and found it incredibly helpful in grieving. I wish I still had things if my dad’s but it is too long ago. I shall look at Gulliver with renewed interest now!

Thank you. I had not thought of using tracing paper before, but baking parchment.

What a fabulous chance! As she was the very first person I watched on youtube explaining piecing, I have a very soft spot for this lady.

They were both excellent shows, I agree. A very good showing and variety at both. Next year you will have Apple County instead, as we alternate with Corfe. Let’s hope Quantock make it a regular thing-Gill Griffiths is a UKQU member!

A very thorough review, Christine. Not all reviewers consider how it stitches!

I saw several of your quilts there Abigail, and very nice they were too! I had a good day shopping and viewing there and it was lovely to be at the young quilters exhibit when the two girls came with their mum (I assume) after school. The younger one’s joy at finding her rosettes was really heartwarming. Great to see young quilters doing well, t…[Read more]

It looks lovely in there. And you will be able to lose yourself sewing away from the phone, the doorbell etc. I wish I had insisted in double glazing for mine!

Seeing it slowly and carefully demonstrated makes it look so much more understandable. Thank you for a lovely demo.

That’s a must! It is so rare we get up close to threads of the past.
