I must admit I used to love going to the stitching and textile shows in the USA when I was a professional Cross Stitch Designer. I even taught classes at the one I went to in Riverside California, and went twice to Des Moines in Iowa, and a stitching show in New York. All these shows had an element of Quilting too, but that wasn’t my main focus…[Read more]

Denham is a great venue for a retreat, I have been there twice with Avril’s group. Some amazing quilts your group has made there! Love your flowerpot and Rainbow. So pleased you enjoyed it, and like Lyn I can’t wait to meet everyone again at the Bloggerati retreat in November!

I can understand your excitement. Love the patchwork chair. Just make sure Tilly does not order too much extra fabric on the phone!

Some amazing ideas, particularly useful because I am in a group making charity quilts from sometimes donated orphan blocks.

The black background really makes the Kaffe Fasset Collective fabrics zing. The Lavender Lane quilt is exquisite, I adore the twiddled blocks. Taking pictures is essential to remember what you have made, especially if the quilt is going to a new home.

We all know that we can’t always put pictures of cats and dogs on, or even near, finished quilts or goodness gracious sleeping on sewing machines, quilt sandwiches, disrupting cut out bits on the floor, because the p…

Awwww, thanks Lyn, even on a colour wheel these fabrics should not go together, but they do, and babies do love bright colours, compared to muted pastels.

I totally love this! Many years ago (1981), I was the manager of a fabric shop. Back then it was mainly Dressmaking not Quilting, but I really resonate with the reels of thread! The hours I spent on my hands and knees sorting out the colours & putting them back again into the Gutterman stand, because some precious poppet angel thought pinging them…[Read more]

It was a double gift, initially to a dear local friend who was given the precious task of driving it there, and then her pride & pleasure in then presenting it to the recipients Mirlanda & Anika the baby.

Denise, the right things happen to the right people for all the right reasons. Sadly this is not all the time, but when it does it’s magic! I was actually quite prepared to make her an identical one & post it later, if she hadn’t won, because she was so lovely and appreciated the work that had gone into it.
