Nina wrote a new post, UKQU Book Club – the books so far 6 years, 5 months ago
With one year coming to an end and another one starting, we tend to pause and take the opportunity to look back at the year that has been. Hence this may be a good time to do a recap of the books we have read so far…

Nina wrote a new post, Stash busting idea – reversible odds & sods bag 6 years, 5 months ago
Have you got too many fat quarters gathering dust? Two of them can rather quickly be turned into a really useful little bag.
For newborns, the bag is perfect for a few nappies, wet wipes, bottle, muslin,…

Nina wrote a new post, My song title challenge 6 years, 6 months ago
When putting my hand up to be given a song title to interpret by making something quilty, I wasn’t at all sure I’d get a song title that I actually recognised; as I had never heard of some of the ones allocated ear…

-
I didn’t get it-too busy to keep up when Prince was in his heyday-but I love it! What a super quilt! So clever, too.
-
I didn’t guess it until the end! Great quilt Nina and great interpretation!!
-
Fantastic Nina! I love it – especially the face, and the clues. I think I got it from clue 2 – that was when I started thinking of songs that I knew with those words!
-
Very clever, but had no clue, still don’t. I have heard of him though.
-
I didn’t get it, I could on think of “send all your kisses to me”. I’m not good with lyrics or Prince . It’s beautifully executed
-
That is a lovely Blog Nina. Such a good interpretation, lots more kisses to you. Xxx
-
Loving how you have made this quilt, bet you were singing the song as you stitched along!
-
Mwah Kiss!!!!

Nina wrote a new post, Bloggerati retreat – foot wear… (and a game of sort) 6 years, 6 months ago
Sewing at home is usually done alone and I for one, prefer sewing in comfy clothes (think track suit bottoms or comfy leggings) and some cosy slippers. Admittedly, I take off the left slipper when using the pedal, so…

-
Haha! I saw some of these! Left footed? Are you left handed too Nina?
-
Right handed and right footed (!!!), but rather ambidextrous, so prefer using left foot for the pedal.
-
-
Love it! I think I have tried sewing left footed, but like everything, it takes practise! I suppose as well that it seems more natural to use the right foot, due to the lead being on the right hand side of the machine, and also as the foot pedal is akin to the accelerator pedal in a car.
As for the footwear – I may or may not be able to identify a pair or two!!
-
I definitely know no 9. I just wore my flip flops (And odd socks) to dinner. #noshame
-
I know who wore 5 and 3, and mine were on my feet at dinner, but off whilst I was sewing, I’m a barefoot sewer!!
-
Love the pixie boots! I sew with my right foot. Is that unusual?
-
Maggie, I believe right foot is the usual!
-
-
I was there and I can’t guess any of them! I’m sure I did see numbers 3 and 9, but can’t remember whose feet they were on.

Nina wrote a new post, Idea for a non-traditional sampler quilt 6 years, 7 months ago
When I was first exposed to quilting, it was because some mums in an online group were doing it. They were all amazingly excellent at it and I started by (very badly) copying what they were doing. With their…

UKQU BOOK CLUB 6 years, 11 months agoPam,
Thank you for taking the time to comment; it’s good to know that others are reading the books too!
I am trying to pick a wide range of books, so some months may not be to your liking.
I have just downloaded the Linda Gillard book to my Kindle, thank you for the suggestion.

What a lovely long list of books (my first love, if not my last ) and I haven’t read them all! It is amazing how inspiring quilting is! The trouble is, they then move onto the ever longer to-do pile.
