16 or 17 years ago I went on a jewellery making taster session at the Bead & Button Bazaar in Earlswood Lake Craft Centre and found that I had quite a passion for it. After a while I was lucky enough to be offered an…

Beading a hobby I’m looking for the time to do! I already embellish bits a pieces with beads and have attended a Beading group a couple of times. Sadly time eludes me doing more however supplies and books are gathering ready for when I have the time.
-
Time is a problem isn’t it! I see so many things I want to do and, like you, I gather supplies and the time never comes. I did snatch a really nice hour this week when everyone was out and I added a beaded tassel to a gift bag. I had forgotten how much pleasure I get from this sort of thing – and it only took an hour so I was well pleased. . Thank you for reading Sharon.

Can’t wait for more. I love using beads on wall hangings and postcards so to learn more will be great.

Thank you Pat.

I think it’s really satisfactory to take an old piece of denim and embellish that with some colourful patches of fabric and thread.
Doing some hand embroidery is a great start if you have never done anything li…

I love the idea of anonymous Valentine’s day gifts, and what better for a small stash-busting quilty project than a few bonding hearts. These are the pairs of fabric hearts given to mothers with a baby in a n…

Hi Linda, what thread did you use on Silver linings it looks like rayon quite fine. Your quilting is so beautiful and precise.

Hi Wendy. I used Glide by FilTec. You can get it from Cotton Patch and Pinhole Quilting should be getting it on their website soon. It is a 40wt trilobal poly which has a lovely sheen. Superior Bottom Line in the bobbin. 🙂
-
Thanks for the info, an American friend has mentioned it in the past so I’m pleased I can get some to try. I’m surprised it’s 40wt which I thought would build on the surface too much for micro quilting but it’s worked well and as you say it’s coloured the sections. Good effect. I use the bottom line already for bobbin and piecing. It’s fine so…[Read more]

What a lovely little project. I’m with you on scrap storing – I think it stems from my early playgroup leader days when we had to gather resources from everywhere and make the most of what we had (no money to buy things). I still ‘hoard’ to recycle now. Another thing to try – exciting.
