This one took me a while. I did enjoy it in the end and will watch the film too. I feel like I need some notes to help me pick up all the meanings in this book.

I didn’t like this one. Maybe a warning about the amount of ill health in it too.

I haven’t read any more in the series yet. I have read a few books by a different author in the order they were released (very different genre) and found I didn’t enjoy them as they were very similar in style to each other. I might leave it a while then dip into a later book (if they don’t have to be read in a certain order).

I’ve just finished The Quilter’s Apprentice. I really enjoyed it and would love to be part of a quilting group like The Tangled Web Quilters. My mum started quilting by going to an evening group at different ladies homes. I also want to start up a business like Elm Creek Quilts!

      Hi Frances

I’d read your other posts and wondered if your book had arrived! I’m looking forward to finding out the July book too, it’s forcing me to make the time to read!

      Hi Arlene

That’s further than I’ve got! Maybe this summer I will get some time to plan something at least.

      Hi Arlene

Possibly not but while there’s less funding there’s less ‘research’ able to happen, so less help can be given… We should at least be trying to help those with mental health issues to lead happier, if not more productive, lives.

I didn’t mind the cassette tape and looked forward to the chapters where we found out about Maria’s life in her own words. I enjoyed the book but I didn’t like Caroline much. Seeing the quilt on Liz Trenow’s website helped me, I couldn’t understand why they were having so much trouble getting to the ‘lozenges’. I think I’d like to have a go making my own memory quilt.

I think society is more tolerant of some issues today. I don’t think there is enough support given (money from the government to use in the community, not institutions) for modern mental health issues.
