Nina wrote a new post, UKQU Book Club – the books so far 6 years, 5 months ago
With one year coming to an end and another one starting, we tend to pause and take the opportunity to look back at the year that has been. Hence this may be a good time to do a recap of the books we have read so far…

Christine Hutchins wrote a new post, A Little Bit Controversial…perhapsThe Bloggerati Song Challenge 6 years, 5 months ago
I really liked the song title I was given all those months ago, when I thought the challenge and idea was something I could get my teeth into. After all, I knew I had the perfect fabric somewhere in my stash. As soon…

-
I love that you used sweet wrappers, all very exciting using different ‘fabrics’. Brilliant interpretation
-
Thank you Jane! It takes a bit of a ‘leap of faith’ to use sweet wrappers in something that you are going to sew. I was concerned that the sewing may rip the papers, but sometimes you just have to go for it!
-
-
Great interpretation and execution!!! Amazing how quickly volunteers appear when sweets are involved!
PS. No wonder I called you Teresa when you even mimic her blog titles LOL.-
Thank you Nina! Yes, Teresa was in my mind when I thought about the title – I couldn’t think of anything better as a title!
-
-
Well my first guess was Sweets for my Sweet, but I soon realised that was wrong. What an incredible piece this is!
-
Thank you Maggie! Some members of my quilt group thought Sweets for my Sweet as well.
-
-
Totally amazing, so much creativity!
-
Thank you Teresa – your blog titles inspired my blog title – I couldn’t think of a better title, as I realised that several parts of my quilt could / would be controversial. When I include religion / religious symbols in my quilting, I am aware that it could cause offence somewhere…this quilt almost sort of did that at our quilting group, where one of our members hates the song with a vengeance (mind you, we also tease her about parsnips, mashed carrot and swede – she can’t stand swede, junket…amongst other things – it makes our group Christmas dinners quite entertaining! She does tease me about my stash…)
-
You have not seen my Merry Sproutmass …..coming soon 30th Dec to a blog page near you!
-
-
-
I thought Sweets for My Sweet too, but love this
-
Thank you Candy – it was fun making it, if a little nerve wracking, wondering how it would go down with others…I have just about got to the stage where as long as I like it, it is fine. I also get to thinking that it is a process, that whatever happens, however it turns out, it is something that was just waiting to come out, and has something to say – that it is another step on the journey.

Not one to shirk at a challenge I thought a song title quilt would be an interesting one. Esp in the lead up to one of my fav times of year. So I accepted Sylvias call out to the bloggeratti. Excitement mounted as I…

Loving your freemotion work . So detailed! I so want to do more of that!

It’s practice, practice, practice. And you will be able to before you know it.

As always incredibly inventive and well executed. I live in a town which had the last battle of the civil war. We no longer have a spire on our church as that got destroyed in the battle, but still have a canon ball embedded in the wall!
-
Wow that’s amazing Teresa. Bet that church could tell some stories. Thanks
-
-
Absolutely amazing!

Thank you

-
Wow! your FMQ drawing is amazing – love the interpretation. The Seagulls part was very clever.

Gulliver says thank you

I love the thought process going from one to the other. Brilliant interpretation

Thank you

Great write up. Love both of these and great seeing the processes you use.

Great blog Ami …great to meet you…I’ve yet to make those snowballs x
-
Thanks Lyn, it was great to meet you too. I made quite a few more snowballs but am done for now. Once Christmas is over I plan on making a sixteen patch quilt, using the method you showed us x

Have you got too many fat quarters gathering dust? Two of them can rather quickly be turned into a really useful little bag.
For newborns, the bag is perfect for a few nappies, wet wipes, bottle, muslin,…

A lovely piece Ruth. I am really enjoying this Song Title Series! Beautifully stitched and it really does evoke a sunset on the Thames. I especially like the printing, though I do not know how that is done. It complements the work beautifully.
-
This one bought back more Memories! Thanks Ruth. Love the triangles and the water – very clever. Te circular quilting really addes to the whole design too. I have never thought about putting a fabric design in a picture frame – might give it a go another time. Really enjoyed the Blog too. xx
-
One of the songs of my childhood too, my dad loved the Kinks! Very cleverly done and love the circular quilting
-
Thank you Jane.

memories of my older sister and brother bopping around the kitchen singing all these old songs that are being depicted. Lovely make.
-
Thank you Sharon. Some of the old tunes are the best

-
one of my favourite songs, and the best lyric…. What a wonderful mini. I am very very impressed!
-
Thank you Rebecca. The song now keeps flicking through my brain – but that is not altogether a bad thing

What a lovely long list of books (my first love, if not my last ) and I haven’t read them all! It is amazing how inspiring quilting is! The trouble is, they then move onto the ever longer to-do pile.
