Hi everyone, This is such fun to be in at the beginning of the UKQU website, it’s such an exciting venture for everyone involved. Having agreed to do a monthly blog, I sat back and wondered what I have let myself i…

That is a great intro Carol, love the dragon I can give it a home if you like. Looking forward to your next one.
-
Thanks Mo, I think my husband might have something to say about that. He’s claimed it…

A very interesting journey you have had! We’re you working while doing both those C&G courses? I did a C&G Further Adult Education Teaching Certificate and lectured one day a week at the same time and found it hard work! Where did you do your Sketchbook course? I would love to do that!
-
Hi Laine, it has been a fun journey, hooefully a long way to go yet. I was working part time when I did my course, it was hard going sometimes, but I loved every minute of it and it was worth every penny. I did the sketchbook course with Linda and Laura Kemshall. There were videos to watch so it made it much more interesting, and it was nice to see the techniques used properly.
-
Thanks Carol!

Wow Carol, Fantastic first blog and your Dragon is just stunning.

Your enthusiasm comes through, so inspirational. Doing two C&Gs at once. Amazing.

It was a bit mad at the time, but so worthwhile.

Finally I have found you and my goodness this is absolutely gorgeous absolutely wowsa. I would love to do something like this with my art, putting it into fabric and embroidery and scarily using my Pfaff expression 4.00. I put it away because I was scared of it like a lot of things xx I’m so glad I found you xx
-
Thanks Faith, practice will help you lose the fear of your machine, have fun experimenting.
-
-
Great blog Carol – looking forward to your next one….
-
Thanks Linda.

When I first saw your dragon I thought it was amazing but I can see the detail clearly of this photo so have now decided it’s fabulous! Congratulations on doing 2 C & G diplomas at the same time, you must have worked so very hard.
-
Thank you Carole, I loved making it and experimenting with the different mediums.

No wonder you are so good Carol…. that’s a lot of certificates you have !

Hello folks, I can’t believe I was asked to blog, someone might live to regret that. I’m Chris,I live in North Yorkshire with the husband of nearly 30 years. We have two grown up children who have flown the nest, s…

Good luck settling in and sorting out your craft room. We moved to a new area when we retired and had to build a small extension so I could have a craft room but I still have quite a lot of fabric stored in bedroom cupboards!
-
Love Pickering and Yorkshire generally! I feel better when I realise that other people have what I think of as the magpie approach to quilting – gets lots of lovely fabric together, start something that really appeals – but oh, look, that looks lovely, too, so I’ll have a go at that as well! Hopeless! 2018 has got to be my year to finish everything I’ve already started!
-
yep, that’s me. Idea enters brain, starts, order fabric, fabric arrives, brain has moved on to another project

Sharon Reid wrote a new post, New Year’s Resolution and my Works in Progress (WIP) 8 years, 5 months ago
With an ever growing pile of patterns I’m itching to start and an even bigger cupboard full of WIP I have a dilemma over which of the two I should dedicate my 2018 time. The non-sensible thing would be to crack on w…

-
Wow! That is a lot of WIPs, I am seriously impressed 🙂
-
Thank you
-
-
But this means you can’t start any new projects!
-
I’m sure I have more if I was to hunt and if I was to add on my knitting projects!
-
I know, what have I done! I have a clause in that I can start a new project if it’s a present or for shop display, both these options would need to be finished and not added to the WIP’so.
-
-
I hate to think how many I have if I went through my WIP box. Although I call them UFO’s Unfinished Fabric Obsessions.
-
I just started jotting down all my WIPs yesterday …. at least then you know what you’ve got!! Good luck with working through them and hopefully get some ticked off that list 🙂
-
It’s a mammoth tasknow fingers crossed to the list shrinking!
-
Determined to get a few knocked off the list Abigail.
-
-
I really like your idea of hat to pick the month’s WIP out from. I can see that might work for me too. I have some projects that would benefit from some input too! Good luck! Off to write my list!
-
Wold be nice to hear how you get on later in the year Lainie I’m hoping at least to work on some of them, finishinges any will be a bonus.
-
-
I like your WIP strategy – might try something like that myself
-
If you do Corinne let me know how you get on, will be interesting to see how others have tackled the dreaded WIP’s UFO’s etc!
-
-
I love this idea. At first I thought I only have two quilting ufo’s but then remembered my sewing, dressmaking, recycling and knitting projects still to be finished. I’ve got loads – going to write my list today. Thanks for the idea xx
-
I’m working on the one I pulled out for this month. I think I shall be able to cross it off myou list. Fingers crossed. Good luck with your list.
-
-
Hi Sharon, what number did you pick for January ? Dying to know lol. My 2018 NYR is to ‘Finish what I’ve Started’, and for me – although the list is long – I may only finish two or three projects this year as they are all quite big projects.
-
26 Anne, the rabbit, shall be updating my blog shortly and with the next number drawn for February. This is making me think long and hard about my UFO’s!!!
